As the evolution of Project 68 continues the interior has been the focus lately with previous projects completed like the paint, wiring, shifter mount, shifter and steering column. Next up, a new dash and dash pad!
First the dash face fabricated from 3/16 aluminum across with a distressed silver grey paint to finish, custom bezels are tig welded on to finish the dash and angle the gauges towards the driver.
With the dash face in place, a new steering column was installed replacing the old OEM collapsable steering column. A removable steering wheel quick-release unit is also installed and work continued as a new dash pad is installed into the vehicle to clean up the old, corroded and cracked dash. I have great respect for Autometer and their products so all gauges in the car continue to utilize the Autometer brand, particularly the Mopar Performance branded gauges.
New placement for the shift light and transmission temperature gauge finish off a cleaner look from previous years and the interior cleans up overall drastically with upgraded equipment to boot!
